Joint replacement

We have been performing joint replacement surgeries since 2016. As the first and only clinic in Lithuania to introduce this service, we are the most experienced veterinary specialists in this field.

Joint replacement is performed when medical or conservative treatment no longer provides results that ensure a full, comfortable, and pain-free life for the pet.
The most common reasons for this complex surgical procedure include:

• Osteoarthritis of various degrees caused by chronic diseases that damage joint surfaces;
• Intra-articular fractures or traumas resulting in irreversible joint damage;
• Congenital pathologies such as hip dysplasia in dogs;
• Irreversible changes developed during other surgical operations that cause the animal pain or severe discomfort.

We use high-quality endoprostheses made from specialized metal and plastic alloys, designed to minimize the likelihood of the body rejecting them as foreign objects. During a total joint replacement, the damaged part of the joint is replaced with an artificial component, which is secured into the bone using a surgical cement mixture.

Joint replacement surgery is often the only way for an animal suffering from chronic degenerative joint diseases to return to a life where they can move freely and enjoy themselves without being restricted by pain.
