Complete blood count (CBC)
A complete blood count (CBC) is the primary test used to evaluate an animal’s general health status. The advantage of this test is that it quickly helps identify many different pathologies: anemia, clotting disorders, various inflammatory diseases, allergies, parasitosis, the potential for bleeding, or suspected blood cancer. We perform this test not only for cats and dogs but for almost all animals: rodents, birds, cold-blooded species, and more.
During the blood morphological examination, the quantity, size, and composition of blood-formed elements (erythrocytes, leukocytes, and platelets) are determined. These results are provided in just a few minutes by our next-generation Idexx ProCyte Dx analyzer.
We are proud to be the first in Lithuania to start—and currently one of the few to perform—microscopic evaluations of all blood morphological samples. Regardless of whether the CBC shows deviations from the norm, all blood samples in our clinics undergo cytomorphological examination (studying the cell shape). This ensures extreme accuracy and comes at no additional cost .
A blood morphological test is a fast and painless way to care for your pet’s health preventively, so we recommend performing this test once a year.
