Nairo’s story – hypothyroidism

A few weeks ago, we talked about thyroid disorders in pets and how they affect the health of the animal. When the thyroid produces too few hormones, hypothyroidism develops, and today we want to share a specific case.
Six-year-old German Shepherd Naira was brought to our clinic by concerned owners due to the pet’s intense itching, flaky skin, and hair loss (photo in the upper right corner). Laboratory tests revealed hypothyroidism complicated by a fungal skin infection. After treatment, hormone levels returned to normal, the fungal infection was cured, and Naira is now feeling and looking great – her coat has grown back shiny and soft, and the itching is gone!
