Babesiosis

Ticks are already active!
We are sharing the first case of babesiosis detected at our clinic this season. In the provided photo, babesias can be seen “settled” inside an erythrocyte (red blood cell) during the microscopic examination. As the disease progresses, babesias destroy red blood cells and cause anemia and kidney failure in the animal, and such a condition can even be fatal. Therefore, we want to warn you that when the outdoor temperature is positive, it is already time to take measures to protect your pets from ticks.
If your puppy becomes lethargic for no obvious reason, develops a fever, or has darkened urine – these are signs that the animal needs to be taken to a veterinarian urgently.
Dear friends, stay alert, carefully check your pet after walks outside, and start using protection now. A special collar, drops, or a tablet can protect your pet from sad consequences.
