Ocular electroretinography
New!
Today, we would like to introduce the ocular electroretinography (ERG) examination, which we perform at “Siaurio Šnauceris” veterinary clinics using a next-generation diagnostic system—the only one of its kind in Lithuania and the Baltic States! In veterinary ophthalmology, the ERG test is vital for evaluating the feasibility of cataract surgery and, in some cases, determining the cause of sudden blindness.
The examination is performed quickly and without causing discomfort to the animal:
- Pain-relieving and pupil-dilating drops are applied;
- An electrode, similar to a contact lens, is placed on the eye;
- The response of the retina’s photoreceptors to light stimulation is evaluated during the test.
We are delighted to offer our patients this next-generation diagnostic system, which allows us to identify retinal damage much more easily than before (without anesthesia or special preparation), more quickly, and more efficiently.
