Ear inflammation
A pet’s hearing, just like a human’s, is one of the most important senses, and its impairment or loss disrupts their perception of the world and orientation in the environment; therefore, daily or periodic care of a pet’s ears should not be a forgotten procedure. Nevertheless, in practice, we often have to treat animals for ear inflammation (otitis), which can be caused by ear parasites, bacterial infections, allergies, a foreign body stuck in the ear, etc.
If a pet is suffering from ear inflammation, symptoms appear that are impossible to ignore:
– red ears;
– head shaking;
– scratching of the ears;
– the pet may rub its head against surrounding objects;
– feels pain when touched;
– an unpleasant odor from the ears;
– unusual discharge is observed, or an increased amount of earwax and unusual color.
Upon noticing these symptoms, you should bring the animal for an examination by a veterinarian to determine the cause and prescribe treatment.
During the examination, the veterinarians at “Siaurio Šnauceris” clinics check the ears very thoroughly: video otoscopy is performed, samples from the ears are examined cytologically, the causative agent and its sensitivity to antimicrobial substances are determined, which allows for the selection of very precise and effective treatment. If necessary, the doctor will also perform the required cleaning procedures so that your pet can continue to enjoy flawless hearing.
