Kitė’s Story
In the photo, you see a 7-year-old Kurilian Bobtail named Kitė. A confrontation with a dog nearly turned fatal when it bit her through the laryngeal area. Her trachea was severely traumatized, causing labored breathing that could have led to suffocation. Without a moment’s delay, surgery was performed to create a tracheostomy (pictured on the right), allowing Kitė to breathe more easily.
Following the procedure, the patient spent a week in our intensive care unit (ICU). During this time, she received treatment, her condition was closely monitored, and the tracheostomy site was meticulously cared for. Once the wounds in the laryngeal area had healed, Kitė was able to breathe on her own again. The tracheostomy tubes were removed, and all discomfort was gone.
We are overjoyed to have restored the joy of life to yet another wonderful animal!
