The History of Farinas
In the photo, you can see the 8-year-old French Bulldog Farina, who has already recovered. At our clinic, Farina was successfully treated for chronic ulcerative keratoconjunctivitis in both eyes (corneal inflammation). Due to the discomfort caused by the inflammation, the dog would constantly rub her snout against surrounding objects, which led to superficial corneal injuries. For this reason, Farina was fitted with an eye shield and started on topical medication. The left eye healed quickly and nicely, but the damage to the right eye was more severe, and the condition became chronic, with vascularized corneal zones forming (as seen in the “before” photo), which looked unsightly and caused discomfort to the animal, often keeping the eye partially closed. Therefore, with no improvement in sight, a decision was made to proceed with surgical treatment. Ten days after the sutures were removed, positive results are evident, and today we can celebrate a fully recovered patient with preserved vision!
